States aren’t the only jurisdictions watching revenues decline. Counties, cities and other municipalities likewise face growing budget deficits and a number have turned to aggressive tax schemes to keep the money flowing. From coast to coast, local jurisdictions are proposing (and passing) taxes on new activities and even personnel. This session will alert you to some of the more unusual and egregious taxes, highlight areas where such taxes might be ripe for challenge, and identify proposals on the horizon.

After the session, attendees will be able to: (1) identify local taxes have been recently enacted, (2) assess potential challenges for such taxes, and (3) anticipate future local tax proposals and expected trends.
