Session Description:

From renewed independence safeguards to modern approaches to conducting conferences, the IRS’s Independent Office of Appeals continues to evolve to meet its critical mission. This session brings together Appeals’ two most senior officials and leading tax controversy practitioners to engage in a wide-ranging discussion of the current and future states of Appeals. Our panelists will engage in an interactive dialog, covering topics such as, the perceived and actual independence of Appeals, implementation of the Taxpayer First Act, the Appeals Team Case Leader Conferencing Pilot, recent technological advances, and alternative Appeals tools.
