Session Description:

This session will provide a technical update on the latest coronavirus-related federal tax developments, including the business tax provisions of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, and discuss potential pitfalls in the debt- and lease-modification contexts, among other things.

Learning Objectives:

After this session, participants will be able to: (1) identify significant business tax developments from the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021; (2) apply the mechanics of the CARES Act’s NOL carryback provisions; (3) understand the rules for significant debt modifications; and (4) apply the rules for lease modifications under section 467.
